What Began As A Doctor’s Question Became Our Manufacturing Standard.
OUR STORY | A Question A Doctor Never Let Go Of
01 – The Beginning Of The Story
The story of D-NUTRIMEC did not begin with a skincare trend or a fashionable ingredient.
It began in an oncology ward—and with a question our founder, a physician at the time, could not let go of: Cancer treatment is already difficult enough. Could we help the skin suffer less?
From 1994 to 2002, D-NUTRIMEC founder Mr. Guo Zhidong worked in clinical oncology.
Over those eight years, he cared for many patients facing serious illness. Given the limitations of medical treatment at the time, when a disease could no longer be effectively reversed, the focus of care would sometimes shift from extending life to relieving discomfort and preserving dignity.
Radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and weakened physical defenses could also leave patients’ skin dry, sensitive, flaky, and even damaged. These skin problems were more than a source of discomfort—they could affect sleep, mobility, and overall quality of life.
This led Mr. Guo to ask another question: Beyond treating the disease itself, what more could we do for skin damaged by radiotherapy?
During an academic and professional exchange visit to the United States, he began systematically exploring collagen and its role in tissue support and skin repair.
That was where the idea of collagen first took root.
After leaving frontline clinical practice, Mr. Guo moved into pharmaceutical research, commercialization, and industrial development. At the time, recombinant collagen was still far ahead of the Chinese market. Research and development were challenging, industrial-scale production was difficult, and the market was not yet ready.
But the question he had carried with him from the hospital never disappeared.

In 2004, the foundation of D-NUTRIMEC was established.
In 2016, we began introducing recombinant humanized collagen products into medical device and professional channels. Through real-world applications and market feedback, we gained further confidence in the long-term value of this direction.
We also came to understand something important:
To address skin concerns over the long term, having a single product is not enough. We needed our own technology platform, validation system, and manufacturing capabilities.
02 – Technology And Ideals
The emergence of core technologies
As our independent technology platform continued to develop, more scientific expertise joined the journey, including Dr. Huang Zhong of Cornell University and Dr. Wen Liuqing of the University of Georgia.
Mr. Guo brought clinical insight, industry experience, and a deep understanding of users’ needs.
Our scientists brought expertise in molecular design, protein expression, fermentation and purification, and biosynthesis.
Together, we continued asking two questions:
What does the skin truly need? And: How can we manufacture it consistently, purely, and at scale?
After years of research and industrial development, we established our proprietary 1068 Recombinant Humanized Collagen Technology Platform.
The 1068 technology is designed based on DNA sequences related to human collagen and expressed through controlled yeast fermentation. By avoiding dependence on animal-tissue extraction, the platform provides a more controllable foundation for raw-material purity, batch-to-batch consistency, traceable biocompatibility, and scalable manufacturing.
We call this technology:
LIQUID HUMAN SKIN
This does not mean that we claim to replace human skin, nor is it intended as an exaggerated medical promise.
It represents a technological philosophy:
To begin with the skin itself—to understand it, respect it, and provide support that truly matters.
03 – R&D Standards
A Doctor’s Standards Became Our R&D Standards
When treating patients, a physician continually asks three fundamental questions:
What is the root cause of the problem?
Is there evidence supporting the chosen approach?
Can potential risks be controlled before they occur?
Mr. Guo brought these same questions into D-NUTRIMEC and turned them into the principles behind our product development:
Focus on Fundamentals. Leave the Superficial Behind.
Before developing a product, we first define the skin concern it is intended to address. Only then do we determine the appropriate ingredients, delivery system, and dosage form.
We place performance and practical value before marketing concepts.
We do not add ingredients simply to create a more attractive marketing story, nor do we believe skin should be exposed to unnecessary formulation complexity.
Every ingredient should have a clear reason for being there.
For different products and target markets, we can provide formulation options designed around our “8-Free” intentional-addition standard.
However, we do not simply present “preservative-free” as a synonym for safety.
A product must first remain stable under real-world storage and usage conditions.
Our formulation principle is:
Clean Formulas. Responsible Safety.
We do not use more preservative than a validated formulation actually requires.
Each preservation system should be optimized for the specific formulation and verified through appropriate microbiological challenge testing. Once the required safety margin has been established, preservative use is controlled at the lowest effective level.
04 – Professional Medical-Grade Standard
A Doctor’s Standards Also Entered Our Factory
When we refer to “medical-grade discipline”, we are not trying to present skincare products as medicines.
Instead, we apply the rigorous thinking used in medical-product development—including contamination-risk management, evidence, batch consistency, and process control—to skincare manufacturing.
For us, “high standards” should not remain a slogan.
They should be translated into manufacturing parameters that customers can review, understand, and audit.
– CLEAN –
Production is conducted in an ISO 7 / Class 10,000 clean manufacturing environment, with localized ISO 5 / Class 100 clean areas for critical processes.
– SAFE –
We use pharmacopoeia-grade Water for Injection (WFI) as production water and continuously monitor microbiological and other critical parameters throughout the water system.
– CONTROLLED –
Quality control covers the entire manufacturing process—from raw-material qualification, batch traceability, cleanroom environments, water systems, equipment, personnel, compounding, and filling to finished-product inspection and batch release.
– EFFECTIVE –
For applicable products, we use validated non-irradiation manufacturing pathways, rather than relying on terminal irradiation as a default solution for insufficient contamination control earlier in the production process.
We have not chosen ISO 8 / Class 100,000 environments, conventional purified water, or end-product inspection alone as the limits of our manufacturing ambitions.
Instead, we move quality control further upstream.
Because we believe:
Quality should not be “inspected into” a product at the end of production.
It should be built into every stage of the manufacturing process.
05 – Vision And Cooperation
From a Clinical Question to a Global Brand Opportunity
From serious medical care in public hospitals, to professional aesthetic medicine, and ultimately to everyday consumer skincare, our work has remained centered on one principle:
Supporting damaged, vulnerable, and repair-needing skin—and helping every consumer restore the beauty that naturally belongs to them.
Different products follow their own independent paths of research, testing, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing.
But the principles behind them remain the same:
Science is not decoration.
Technology is not a gimmick.
Performance must withstand validation.
Today, D-NUTRIMEC is no longer simply manufacturing bottles of skincare products.
Through OBM, ODM, and OEM partnerships, we aim to transform our 1068 Recombinant Humanized Collagen Technology, formulation development capabilities, controlled clean manufacturing, regulatory documentation, and global delivery capabilities into meaningful technological differentiation for our customers’ brands.
You can come to us with a product concept, a specific skin concern, or a market opportunity.
We will work with you to turn that idea into a product with:
a clear scientific and technical rationale, a reliable manufacturing foundation, and lasting value that consumers can confidently choose.
Science-led. Biotech-powered. Clinically driven.
A question that began in a hospital ward became a technology. That technology became our manufacturing standard. Now, we want it to become a distinctive advantage for your brand.
